We are happy to announce that Cityntel is participating as a partner in one of the largest and most ambitious EU Smart Cities and Communities lighthouse project, SmarEnCity, which is funded by the Horizon 2020 program. SmarEnCitiy is an ambitious project aiming to reduce energy consumption in cities up to 70% and use as much renewable energy as possible. There are three cities participating in the project, Tartu in Estonia, Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain and Sondenburg in Denmark, in addition there are two follower cities, Lecce in Italy and Asenovgrad in Bulgaria.
Within the framework of the project, Cityntel will install its next generation Smart Street Light control system in Tartu with 320 LED street lights in the city centre. The system will include various sensors measuring human density, traffic intensity and weather data. Based on input from the sensors, streetlight are in the area are able to adjust their brightness according to the actual situation at hand. We look forward to following this exciting endeavour.
